Vero Beach City Council

My top priorities:

  • Three Corners.  Selecting a developer for the Three Corners project is a pivotal decision for Vero Beach. Achieving a strong consensus among the City Council and the Three Corners Selection Committee is essential to ensure that the chosen group aligns with the city’s vision and values. This process should include thorough evaluations of each proposal, emphasizing collaborative efforts and community engagement. It’s crucial that the selected developer not only meets technical qualifications but also shares a commitment to enhancing the community.

  • Water and Sewer.  Leverage my management and engineering expertise to assist Water and Sewer Director Bolton and his team in successfully executing the Wastewater Reclamation Facility relocation while adhering to the established budget and timeline.

  • Vero Historic Downtown.  Revitalize the downtown along 14th Avenue walk-able core. Our goal should be to ensure that downtown complements, rather than competes with, the venues at Three Corners and Ocean Drive. Additionally, we must prioritize the preservation of local ownership for popular downtown businesses to maintain the unique character of our community.

  • Indian River Lagoon Health.  Advocate for and support initiatives aimed at promoting and enhancing the health of the Indian River Lagoon. This includes prioritizing septic-to-sewer conversions, implementing storm water nutrient-elimination upgrades, and improving reuse water management. These efforts are essential for preserving the lagoon’s ecosystem and ensuring a sustainable future for our community.

  • Long-term Financial Well-being. Support city staff in promoting frugality while ensuring that critical maintenance, upgrades, and safety investments are not overlooked. Additionally, work to strengthen the relationship between Vero Beach and Indian River County to collaboratively address challenges such as residential growth, traffic, and the development of community-supported venues for recreation, dining, and entertainment. This partnership is vital for fostering a vibrant and sustainable community.
